What type of contact lens is right for me? We cater each lens choice to your prescription and what you want to use them for. Infrequent use e.g. for sports or specific events may mean that daily replacement lenses will be best for you. If you plan to wear lenses for longer every day, monthly replacement lenses, which you clean and store every night, will suit you better.
I’ve tried them before but wasn’t impressed… As contact lens technologies have developed there is now the possibility of correcting simple and complex prescriptions, including astigmatism and presbyopia. In addition, contact lens materials have improved so much that comfort during wear has increased dramatically. This means that if you’ve tried lenses in the past and have either been dissatisfied with your vision correction or disappointed with the comfort of the lenses, now is the time to try lenses again.
Benefits of contact lenses
Ideal for use during sports and training
Perfect alternative for those who don’t feel they suit frames
Can now correct a range of prescriptions including astigmatism and presbyopia
Allows you to pay for vision correction per month as opposed to the one-off cost of spectacles
Can be a handy alternative for situations where spectacles aren’t ideal e.g. weddings, nights out
Leaves you free to wear any sunglasses without the need to buy prescription lenses
A less permanent and more flexible option than laser eye surgery
Can be successfully fitted on children to free them from spectacles at school
How old do you have to be to wear contact lenses?
In recent years, it has also been found that contact lenses can be used by children much younger than previously thought. As long as the child is keen to wear contact lenses, and their parents or guardians are equally on board and willing to oversee their use, there is arguably no lower limit on age for fitting contact lenses. In addition we have many contact lens patients using them well into their 80s!
I’m not sure how to take care of them…
Like any medical prescription, contact lenses prescriptions are carefully chosen to suit your needs and in return, require care when using. We will take the time to show you exactly how to use and care for your lenses so that you can have the best possible wearing experience. In addition, our Direct Debit options all include free aftercare appointments, meaning we will happily see you as often as you need if you have any concerns or problems with your lenses or lens care.
If you are interested in trying contact lenses or want to discuss your options for vision correction further do not hesitate to get in touch and book a contact lens fit with Geoffrey or Tracy.
